Meigs Lodge # 213 Free & Accepted Masons

From The East

Brother, to keep you better informed this is the first of the semi-annual Trestle Boards to be published in 2008.  Meigs Lodge now has a web site for those with Internet access and it may be viewed at www.meigslodge213.com.  Also, if you would like to be My placed on our e-mail or call list for called meetings please let us know.  First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve as the Master of Meigs Lodge for the year 2008; it is an honor and privilege. Masonry means so much in my life and I would like to give a special thanks to all the brethren who help me get where I am today in Masonry.  My brother, it is important to remember that we all worked hard to receive the honor to be members at Meigs Lodge #213, but we also must remember that small Lodges throughout the state have not been as fortunate as we are. I cannot stress enough how important it is to remember that our membership dues come payable by January 1st each year, these early dues help us pay our most important bills of the year (per capita tax, land tax, insurance). Also I would like to remind you of the Life-Time Membership Program which not only can help an individual member but can also help our Lodge for many years to come. At the present time Life-Time Membership is $1000.00 and can be paid in installments.

Two years ago the Grand Lodge changed the penal code to allow Lodges to conduct fundraisers and for some Lodges, with no income, this is a means of survival. Meigs held a fundraiser in 2007 and it gave us a profit of $1150.00.  This year I am scheduling our Widow’s and Orphan’s Dinner combined with our 25 and 50 year Members Dinner on May 17th and it is to be held at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Decatur. If someone you know needs assistance or transportation to this event, please do not hesitate to contact us. Also remember you can check out upcoming events and called meeting on the Lodges website.  We had a great year in 2007 and I would like to personally thank Bob Parris P.M. for all his effort and hard work throughout the year. My brother, I challenge you to attend business meetings and called meetings as much as possible, this not only helps our lodge but it strikes curiosity in the community and helps promote membership. If there is anything that I can do for you, please do not hesitate to call me. I hope to see you soon.

Fraternally Yours,

Clay Moss, WM
